Integrated disease management key to flock health
While biosecurity is always high on the agenda for poultry producers, taking an integrated approach is key to keep disease at bay.
Elanco layer business manager, Jeremy Marsh, says putting together an integrated disease management plan should include two crucial areas – biosecurity and vaccination.
Poultry biosecurity
Implementing a rigorous biosecurity programme to prevent harmful organisms from being introduced into the flock is an integral part of running a successful laying site.
When it comes to developing a biosecurity protocol, there are three key elements that should be considered:
- Inside poultry housing
- The wider farm environment
- Operations in between flocks
