Administration Details

For full efficacy against ticks and fleas, instruct pet owners to always give their cat Credelio Cat with food or within 30 minutes of a meal. The presence of food ensures that peak blood levels and exposures are achieved, which is necessary for initial and ongoing efficacy.

Credelio Cat should be administered once a month, every month, to cats and kittens 8 weeks of age or older and 2.0 lbs or greater to provide year-round protection against fleas. Credelio Cat is indicated for the treatment and control of black-legged ticks for one month in cats and kittens at 6 months of age or older and 2.0 lbs or greater.

Credelio Cat kills fleas before they can lay eggs. It maintains fast-acting and sustained flea efficacy throughout the entire month — no drop-off.3,4   

Credelio Cat is approved for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations in cats 8 weeks and older weighing 2.0 pounds or more.

Flea control should be considered one of the first steps for any cat that presents with:

Effective, sustained Ixodes scapularis tick kill

I. scapularis, also known as the black-legged or deer tick, is the most common tick infesting cats. It is most often found on the head, neck and ears and can be a threat year-round.6

Credelio Cat kills 97-100% of I. scapularis ticks at 72 hours after administration or infestation throughout the month.7

Credelio Cat is approved for the treatment and control of I. scapularis in cats 6 months and older weighing 2.0 pounds or more.

Emergency Use Authorization for Credelio CAT (lotilaner) for New World Screwworm (NWS) 

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the emergency use of the approved product Credelio CAT (lotilaner) for the treatment of infestations caused by NWS (Cochliomyia hominivorax) larvae (myiasis) in cats and kittens. Credelio CAT is not approved for this use. 

Credelio CAT is approved for other uses.

Limitations of Authorized Use 

Credelio CAT (lotilaner) is authorized for this use only for the duration of the declaration that circumstances exist justifying the authorization of the emergency use of Credelio CAT (lotilaner) under section 564(b)(1) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act), 21 U.S.C. § 360bbb-3(b)(1), unless the authorization is terminated or revoked sooner.

Approved Indications

Credelio® CAT kills adult fleas and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis) for one month in cats and kittens 8 weeks of age and older and weighing 2.0 lbs or greater.

Credelio® CAT is also indicated for treatment and control of Ixodes scapularis (black-legged tick) infestations for one month in cats and kittens 6 months of age and older and weighing 2.0 lbs or greater.

Important Safety Information

Lotilaner is a member of the isoxazoline class. This class has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions including tremors, ataxia and seizures. Neurologic adverse reactions have been reported in cats receiving isoxazoline class drugs, even in cats without a history of neurologic disorders. Use with caution in cats with a history of neurologic disorders. The safety of Credelio® CAT has not been established in breeding, pregnant and lactating cats. The effectiveness of Credelio® CAT against Ixodes scapularis in kittens less than 6 months of age has not been evaluated. Credelio is indicated for the prevention of Borrelia burgdorferi infections (also known as Lyme disease) as a direct result of killing Ixodes scapularis vector ticks.

Important Safety Information (ISI)
Lotilaner is a member of the isoxazoline class.  This class has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions including tremors, ataxia, and seizures. Seizures have been reported in dogs receiving this class of drugs, even in dogs without a history of seizures. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders. The safe use of Credelio® in breeding, pregnant or lactating dogs has not been evaluated. The most frequently reported adverse reactions are weight loss, elevated blood urea nitrogen, polyuria, and diarrhea.  For full prescribing information see the Credelio® package insert.


Credelio Quattro/Credelio Quattro-CA1

Indications: Credelio Quattro is indicated for the prevention of heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis and for the treatment and control of roundworm (immature adult and adult Toxocara canis and adult Toxascaris leonina), hookworm (fourth stage larvae, immature adult, and adult Ancylostoma caninum and adult Uncinaria stenocephala), and tapeworm (Dipylidium caninum, Taenia pisiformis, and Echinococcus granulosus) infections.  Credelio Quattro kills adult fleas and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis) and the treatment and control of tick infestations [Amblyomma americanum (lone star tick),  Dermacentor variabilis (American dog tick), Ixodes scapularis (black-legged tick), Rhipicephalus sanguineus (brown dog tick), and Haemaphysalis longicornis (longhorned tick)] for one month in dogs and puppies 8 weeks of age and older, and weighing 3.3 pounds or greater. Credelio Quattro is indicated for the prevention of Borrelia burgdorferi infections (also known as Lyme disease) as a direct result of killing Ixodes scapularis vector ticks.

Important Safety Information: Lotilaner, an ingredient in Credelio Quattro/Credelio Quattro-CA1, belongs to the isoxazoline class and has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions like tremors, ataxia, and seizures even in dogs without a history of seizures. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders. Dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infections before Credelio Quattro/Credelio Quattro-CA1 administration as it is not effective against adult D. immitis. The safe use in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs has not been evaluated. The most frequently reported adverse reactions in clinical trials were vomiting and diarrhea.

Credelio Quattro-CA1 is conditionally approved by the FDA pending a full demonstration of effectiveness under application number 141-619. Treatment of NWS myiasis includes removal of the larvae, lesion cleaning and surgical debridement. Implement appropriate wound care and pain management.
