Tick Efficacy for Dogs:

In two head-to-head studies in dogs, lotilaner was proven to kill multiple species of ticks (I. scapularis and A. americanum) faster than sarolaner in Simparica Trio® and afoxolaner in NexGard® and NexGard® Plus.2,3​

Flea Efficacy for Dogs:

In a head-to-head, well-controlled laboratory study, 100% of dogs were flea-free with lotilaner after 3 monthly doses vs. 93% with afoxolaner.4

Tick Efficacy for Cats:

Credelio Cat demonstrated >97% effectiveness against Ixodes scapularis ticks 72 hours after administration or infestation after 31 days.

Flea Efficacy for Cats:

In a 90-day study, Credelio Cat’s flea efficacy outperformed Frontline® Plus (fipronil), killing 99.9% of fleas at day 90 compared to 84.7% for Frontline Plus.5

Based on the time to statistical significance vs. control in two separate head-to-head studies. The first study compared Credelio® (lotilaner)—not Credelio Quattro, which contains lotilaner as well as moxidectin, praziquantel, and pyrantel—to the active ingredients in Simparica Trio® (sarolaner, moxidectin, and pyrantel) and NexGard® (afoxolaner) against Amblyomma americanum. The second study compared Credelio Quattro, which contains lotilaner as well as moxidectin, praziquantel, and pyrantel, to the active ingredients in Simparica Trio (sarolaner, moxidectin, and pyrantel) and NexGard Plus (afoxolaner, moxidectin, and pyrantel) against Ixodes scapularis.​

Credelio Quattro/Credelio Quattro CA-1 

Indications: Credelio Quattro is indicated for the prevention of heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis and for the treatment and control of roundworm (immature adult and adult Toxocara canis and adult Toxascaris leonina), hookworm (fourth stage larvae, immature adult, and adult Ancylostoma caninum and adult Uncinaria stenocephala), and tapeworm (Dipylidium caninum, Taenia pisiformis, and Echinococcus granulosus) infections.  Credelio Quattro kills adult fleas and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis) and the treatment and control of tick infestations [Amblyomma americanum (lone star tick),  Dermacentor variabilis (American dog tick), Ixodes scapularis (black-legged tick), Rhipicephalus sanguineus (brown dog tick), and Haemaphysalis longicornis (longhorned tick)] for one month in dogs and puppies 8 weeks of age and older, and weighing 3.3 pounds or greater. Credelio Quattro is indicated for the prevention of Borrelia burgdorferi infections (also known as Lyme disease) as a direct result of killing Ixodes scapularis vector ticks.

Credelio Quattro-CA1 is conditionally approved for the treatment of infestations caused by New World screwworm (NWS; Cochliomyia hominivorax) larvae (myiasis) in dogs and puppies 8 weeks of age and older and weighing 3.3 pounds or greater.

Important Safety Information: Lotilaner, an ingredient in Credelio Quattro/Credelio Quattro-CA1, belongs to the isoxazoline class and has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions like tremors, ataxia, and seizures even in dogs without a history of seizures. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders. Dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infections before Credelio Quattro/Credelio Quattro-CA1 administration as it is not effective against adult D. immitis. The safe use in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs has not been evaluated. The most frequently reported adverse reactions in clinical trials were vomiting and diarrhea.

Credelio Quattro-CA1 is conditionally approved by the FDA pending a full demonstration of effectiveness under application number 141-619. Treatment of NWS myiasis includes removal of the larvae, lesion cleaning and surgical debridement. Implement appropriate wound care and pain management.

Emergency Use Authorization for Credelio (lotilaner) for New World screwworm (NWS) 
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the emergency use of the approved product Credelio (lotilaner) for the treatment of infestations caused by NWS (Cochliomyia hominivorax) larvae (myiasis) in dogs and puppies. However, Credelio is not approved for this use. 

Credelio is approved for other uses.

Limitations of Authorized Use 
Credelio (lotilaner) is authorized only for the duration of the declaration that circumstances exist justifying the authorization of the emergency use of Credelio (lotilaner) under section 564(b)(1) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act), 21 U.S.C. § 360bbb-3(b)(1), unless the authorization is terminated or revoked sooner. 

Indications: Credelio kills adult fleas and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis) and the treatment and control of tick infestations [Amblyomma americanum (lone star tick), Dermacentor variabilis (American dog tick), Ixodes scapularis (black-legged tick) Rhipicephalus sanguineus (brown dog tick) and Haemaphysalis longicornis (longhorned tick)] for one month in dogs and puppies 8 weeks of age and older and weighing 4.4 pounds or greater. Credelio is indicated for the prevention of Borrelia burgdorferi infections (also known as Lyme disease) as a direct result of killing Ixodes scapularis vector ticks.

Important Safety Information: Lotilaner is a member of the isoxazoline class. This class has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions including tremors, ataxia, and seizures. Seizures have been reported in dogs receiving this class of drugs, even in dogs without a history of seizures. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders. The safe use of Credelio in breeding, pregnant or lactating dogs has not been evaluated. Lotilaner is a member of the isoxazoline class. This class has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions including tremors, ataxia and seizures. Neurologic adverse reactions have been reported in cats receiving isoxazoline class drugs, even in cats without a history of neurologic disorders. Use with caution in cats with a history of neurologic disorders. The safety of Credelio® CAT has not been established in breeding, pregnant and lactating cats. The effectiveness of Credelio® CAT against Ixodes scapularis in kittens less than 6 months of age has not been evaluated.
